Electrical generators from the 1880s

Dynamos were the first electrical generators and the predecessors of many other later electric-power conversion devices including the electric motor. The models below, developed in the 1880s, were used for lighting production. They converted mechanical energy, delivered by steam engines, to electrical energy. Electric motors convert electrical energy to mechanical energy.
